Nineteen of the Russian's 21 victories have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his initial trophy for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has endured a challenging year, winning just one match at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in specific - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-time mentor Cervara.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents his initial trophy after the Rome competition and first on a hard court from spring of that year.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has achieved 21 championships at 21 distinct competitions.

"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to win a trophy is really nice," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his last six championship matches, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and recurring reactions on court had caused observers to doubt if his capacity to perform at the highest level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, striving to approach the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

The champion came back from a deficit in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, winning 4 of the last five games to take the lead.

The pair swapped break points in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first tour victory, took control to create a decider.

Moutet rescued 4 early opportunities in a tight deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he secured the title with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
